At Green Meadows Early Head Start, we partner with families to nurture the earliest years of development — because the roots planted in those first three years shape a lifetime of learning.
Green Meadows Early Head Start is a federally funded program located in the heart of South Los Angeles. We provide comprehensive early childhood services — including education, health, nutrition, and family support — to low-income infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.
Our approach is grounded in the understanding that the earliest years are irreplaceable. Every interaction, every routine, and every moment of play is an opportunity to build the neural pathways that underpin lifelong learning, health, and well-being.
Each program is thoughtfully structured to meet the unique developmental needs of children from infancy through age three.
For pregnant women and children from birth to age 3. We focus on brain development, attachment, and the whole child — because the first three years matter most.
We work alongside parents as partners. Our family support services include goal-setting assistance, referrals to community resources, and opportunities for parent involvement in the program.
Children receive nutritious meals and snacks that meet USDA guidelines. We also provide developmental screenings, health assessments, and connections to medical and dental care.
We are not just a childcare center — we are a community anchor. Our program is built on the belief that every child enters this world with infinite potential, and our role is to create the conditions where that potential can flourish.
Infants are cared for in small groups with highly trained educators who provide individualized attention and responsive interactions.
Our staff are trained in early childhood mental health and use trauma-informed approaches to create a sense of safety and predictability.
We honor the home languages and cultural traditions of every family. Materials, activities, and communication are provided in the languages our families speak.
We prepare children for the next stage of their education with intentional transitions to Head Start or other early learning programs.
The families we serve are the heart of everything we do. Their experiences reflect our commitment to genuine, responsive care.
"When I first brought my son here, I was overwhelmed — but the staff made me feel like family. They listened to my concerns and helped me find resources I didn't know existed. My son has grown so much."
"The teachers here truly care. They call me to share updates about my daughter, and I can see the confidence growing in her every day. This program changed our lives."
"As a single mother, I needed more than childcare — I needed a partner. Green Meadows gave me that and more. They helped me pursue my GED and connect with housing resources."
